ABSTRACT
Emma Watson has been active in the celebrity scene for many years, most famous for her acting career. However, besides this acting career, she is an active public feminist, fighting for gender equality. The research question that forms the backbone of this project then was ‘’ What responses does celebrity feminists Emma Watson receive on her expression on feminism on Twitter and Youtube in the UK?’’ with sub-questions focussing on the responses she receives on feminist-related events and the emotions tied to these comments. The research methods used are Trend Analysis, Data Scraping and Visualisation, Netnography and Online Interviews. After analysing all retrieved data, the findings showed that the overall responses Emma Watson received are supportive or compliments, with still a number of over 25% of comments labelled as criticism. The overall balance between generally positive or generally negative comments was 65:35.
